Yasin Mohammed

Board of Director Yasin Mohammed

Yasin Mohammed is a Software Engineer by profession. He arrived in the US in the early 2000s on a work visa and has since worked at various technology companies across the SF Bay Area. He has MS in Data Science and MBA in Information Technology Management. He was one of the early engineers at Zoom where he was instrumental in scaling Zoom’s infrastructure exponentially during the pandemic. He currently works as Director of Engineering at a Healthcare Startup in San Francisco. His support for the Mercy Mission and the entire endeavor has been a heavy asset to the intentions behind the model. He has placed much value in the shared objective of spreading equity and the principles of respect and social awareness into an evolution of systematic change. He also has served on other non-profit models such as S.E.E.D that promote the education of women and children and enable the development of dialysis clinics in places where resources are limited. His relentless efforts to the betterment of society has rendered a huge impact both in his technological profession, but also his enthusiasm to make a difference.

Momina Nasir

Interim Director

Momina Nasir is a first generation, born in Oakland. She has a BS in Electronic Engineering and reinvented self and shifted gears to construction during 2008 housing crisis. She was the active President of her own Construction Consulting firm for 12 years. She also has spent countless hours Volunteering for an Islamic school during weekends and served as Treasurer for the school board for 6 years in the public school setting. She decided to make a priority and focus on raising her four children during Covid and sold her consulting firm shares to her partner. She now volunteered as President of the PTA for Elementary and Middle schools, and selflessly serves on School Site committees. Her advanced knowledge of constuction initiatives and consulting is a huge asset to the intention to promote and manifest better opportunities for shelter in the specifics of homeless awareness and housing improvements. Her dedication as interum Director to this endeavor has taken it from initation stage into fruitional development and is a treasured member of our esteemed Board of Directors.

Shabana Markar

President and Founder

Born in the United States whose parents migrated from India to seek the blessings of opportunity that the United States offers. She grew up in her younger years going to Catholic and Christian School and then public schools until after graduating high school went to UC Berkeley and Double Majored in English and Arabic and a Minor in Creative Writing. She later shifted gears and entered the medical profession where she has been a dedicated employee of a merit worthy hospital in the field of Mammography for 21 years. She also went to San Jose State University and completed a Masters of Fine Arts and has established Mercy Mediterranean and Luna’s Halal Taqueria who one day she hopes will be global contributors to this non profit endeavor. She also loves to publicly speak, spend time with children and loves to engage in her podcast TheMercyQueen to help celebrate our differences with the hopes to reestablish the common understanding that we are not so different after all.

Samah Alzubi

Vice President and Co-Founder

Samah Alzubi is an educator and researcher based in California, with a strong background in human development and educational policy. She possesses skills in team management, policy analysis, and quality assurance. Actively involved in her community, Samah has helped refugees overseas and on multuple occasions has distributed aid to families in need. She has been in the media as an advocate for women, children, the disenfrachised due the tragedy of war, has assisted in Disability regulation and aid as well as orphan advocacy in her prime. She holds a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems, along with Master’s degrees in Human and Organizational Systems and Sociology while being Bilingual in English and Arabic. She is dedicated to creating equitable educational opportunities and supporting vulnerable populations.

Ahmad Khalid Nabil

Treasurer/Outreach coordinator

Ahmad Khalid Nabil is an Afghan immigrant whose journey to the U.S. embodies resilience and dedication. Earning an Associate of Arts from Heald College he transitioned into media production as a producer with strong and hands-on advanced knowledge with communicaitons and media development. He is a pillar to his family and the Afghan community for prioritizing growth and advocacy and the advancement of education for women and men in Afghanistan as well as the United States. His advocacy on behalf of educational development and his heightened understanding of cross-cultural dynamics of engagement and expecations make his mastery of negotiation and problem-solving unique to his experience. Beyond his career, he mentors his family in balancing cultural heritage and as a former business owner his guarded knolwdge of financial accruemnt and loss coinciedes with new opportunities that can serve all communities as a viable role model and advocate for reselience. The upholding of cultural vitality while demanding advocacy for equal education opportunities to all ages, men and women alike, is an ethusiastic pursuit he wishes to enhance.
